Improvements
Major improvements
- ISL Light client side session transfer support
- New zoom features when viewing remote desktop
New features
ISL Light has a new option of selecting a viewing region while viewing the desktop of a remote computer. When a region is selected the supporter will only view that selected region.
A new short-cut was added to the ISL Light program. When clicking on CTRL + ESC you will enter full screen mode.
The support for session transfer in the ISL Light program. You can transfer session by right clicking on the exit button and then either send invitation by e-mail or copy the invitation link to clipboard. You can also pause or stop the session from the same menu.
Once you are viewing the remote computer you can also transfer session by clicking on Tools -> Session transfer.
If the supporter was viewing the remote computer desktop in the full screen mode, once the focus was not on the viewer window, the supporter dropped out of full screen mode. The new feature will not drop out the user from full screen mode if the viewer window has lost its focus.
New zoom options have been added to the remote viewing side. You can find them under Tools -> Zoom ( when viewing remote desktop ).
- fit-to-screen (fill)
- fit-to-screen (grow) - will maintain aspect ratio
- 1 to 2 ratio
- fill horizontal area - will maintain aspect ratio
- fill vertical area - will maintain aspect ratio
New possibility has been added to the streaming side of ISL Light. Users can now choose to disable Windows Aero effects. This might give you performance increase.
You can find the new options by clicking on Options ( wrench button ) -> Desktop Sharing -> Disable AERO style when streaming.
Defect fixes
When users were sharing application on second monitor, the view showed on the viewing side was zoomed ( it did not maintain aspect ratio ). The defect was visible because it firstly streamed the whole desktop. The streamed application is now correctly shown on the viewer side.
The defect was fixed.
The ISL Light View sometimes got smaller after a reboot of remote computer. The same defect also happened when the second monitor was made primary. The issue was in the stream size parameter. The view is now no longer smaller after reboot.
The defect was fixed.
Users were unable to see some of the windows on the remote side. The windows that were not visible when viewing remote desktop were Alpha windows. ISL Light now has another procedure for displaying Alpha windows. The parameter is also available in Settings -> Desktop Sharing -> Transfer transparent windows.
The defect was fixed.
When ISL Light Client reconnected ( started through ISL AlwaysOn ), it could take a longer time to establish a connection. The reason for that behavior was that ISL Light Client tried to create a new SSL connection, which was not successful and that caused SSL session to remain in a half connected state. Since ISL Conference Proxy closes the connection when network is idle for 120s, ISL Light was forced to reconnect and create a new SSL session. The second connection was established successfully.
This happened on slower computers.
The defect was fixed.
When users are a part of domain environment with group policy, desktop background was not restored after desktop sharing was stopped. The reason for that is that the group policy background is applied only once - at user login. The defect was fixed with an added check in group policy desktop background parameter. If a policy is set for that parameter, the parameter will be used in ISL Light instead of the setting in the ISL Light Desktop Control plugin.
The defect was fixed.
Users using Windows XP may have experienced crash of ISL Light when hardware acceleration settings was enabled. The problem was when the client changed the desktop to a smaller resolution. This started hardware acceleration and division by zero occurred. This caused the ISL Light to crash. The division by zero defect was fixed.
The defect was fixed.
When client set their ISL Light recording save destination to a network drive and the destination was unreachable, the ISL Light crashed. ISL Light now includes a new thread for the opening of ISL Light recording. If the file is not reachable, ISL Light will not crash.
The defect was fixed.
When users connected to a remote computer using ISL AlwaysOn and start an application that needs admin right, the user was unable to control the displayed UAC dialog. The problem was that admin mode was not initialized at Windows UAC dialog. The initialization is now also forced on UAC dialog and users will not longer experience this issue.
The defect was fixed.
Users who switched desktop on the remote computer could no longer control it once it entered a different desktop.
The defect was fixed.
When users connected to an AlwaysOn computer with the following parameters enabled ( do not enable restart and resume ), they were not able to log in when the remote computer was in the system account. Users had to reconnect to the same computer. Now the users will be able to login from system account and no reconnect will be needed.
The issue was fixed.
